WHAT MATHS MEAN?
Most fail mathematics exams because they memorize Maths without understanding it. After many tutoring assignments, Alpha University Maths Tutors Sydney have identified this as the main root cause for exam failures.
Alpha University Maths Tutors have created this blog to let you understand what Maths means with these few examples. Due to lack of space, we have used over simplified language to explain complicated subject matter.
Followings are over simplification of complex concepts to show that underlying basics can be easily understood if taught the right way.
ALGEBRA: Meaning of Algebra
Refer to “Maths Simplified” from menu for simple explanation of meaning of algebra.
DIFFERENTIATION
Example: Meaning of Differentiation
Let’s consider constant speed of 60km/h. This means distance of 60km is travelled within time of 1 hour.
Speed is the first derivative of distance. Since constant speed, d(Distance) = Distance and d(Time)= Time.
INTEGRATION
Example: Meaning of Integration
Although as complicated as it sounds, Integration is simply used to calculate area. Following is a basic example to show this.
Area of 4m*2m rectangle is 8m2
Another way to find out the area is by using integration. 4×2 rectangle can be represented in a graph as follows. Both provides the same result.
